The Chinese National Human Genome Center (CHGC) in Shanghai has been established in 1998 and is supported by National MST, Municipal Government and Chinese Academy of Science (CAS).The Center is located in Shanghai Zhang-jiang Hi-Tech Park in Pudong New Area, and is administratively under the direction of the Shanghai Commission of Science and Technology. CHGC coordinates the major human genome projects in various frontier areas in Shanghai, provides high quality service for research institutions and biotech/pharmaceutical companies at home and abroad, and serves as an incubator of genomic industry in China. Abiding by the guideline of "having limited but achievable goals in basic research", CHGC devotes itself to the scientific researches taking advantage of genetic resources (including populations, families and disease samples) in China.
