The scientific activities of "Post-translational modifications in cancer" group are focused on the roles of onco-proteins sumoylation. This project is part of the long existing collaboration between Professor Zhu CHEN in Shanghai and Professor Hugues de THE in Paris and now it is carried out by Jun ZHU's group supported by ATIPE program of CNRS. Their joint work made great contribution in clarifying the function of arsenic in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) treatment as well as its optimal in vivo protocol determination.
Two collaboration projects are ongoing:
- In order to establish an APL model in zebrafish, a PML/RARA conditional expression construct was introduced into zebrafish embryos and followed.
- Knockdown the expression of different SUMO paralogues during the early embryonic development of zebrafish
These models will provide great evidence in clarifying the roles of sumoylation during the normal or pathologic development of zebrafish.
